What this check does
- Resolves the public DNS record for the domain and checks whether it is reachable.
- Requests the homepage over HTTPS and reports the HTTP status code and response time.
- Shows whether the site redirects to a different URL and where it lands.
- Refuses private-network targets so only public sites are tested.
Important limits
- It is a single point-in-time check, not continuous uptime monitoring.
- A normal response can still hide slow pages, broken forms or partial outages.
- Some providers block automated checks, which can look like an outage.
- For ongoing monitoring or reliability work, a proper review is still the safer next step.
