Calm access guidance
What access may be needed, and why.
You do not need to arrive with everything perfectly prepared. If something is missing or unclear, I will say so. This page is here to make the first step less stressful, especially for non-technical clients.
Useful details to have ready
- Domain and provider names
- Admin panel access if the website has one
- Hosting panel invite or existing user access
- Temporary user access where possible instead of shared master logins
- Temporary SSH or sudo access for server work when needed
If you are not technical
- A screen-share can be enough to get started
- You can forward provider emails or screenshots if that is easier
- It is normal if ownership is messy after old agencies or freelancers
A sensible security habit
- Avoid sending plain root passwords where possible
- Use temporary users, invitations or password resets when practical
- Rotate old credentials after urgent work is complete
